As a creative group supervisor I’ve learned first-hand that supervision isn’t just about going over client cases or pouring through our case notes.  It's actually about gaining super-vision - a deeper, multi-dimensional view of our work, our clients, and ourselves.

Engaging a Transpersonal, creative lens in group supervision opens space for reflection, insight, and growth. This approach has been pivotal not only for my own wellbeing as a therapist but also for the success of my practice. Likewise, I have also seen over the past few years how supervisees fresh out of college have thrived in this creative group space, with some moving from absolute beginners just starting out, to being fully booked with clients on a wait list!

In my experience, regular supervision helps us become more confident, find creative solutions and feel truly supported. Research backs this up - an academic study done in 2018 found that therapists who engage in supervision see;

 'improved job satisfaction, greater self-awareness, and better client outcomes. '

Ongoing super-vision really is a vital ingredient for our growth.

Creativity in Supervision: Expanding Our Transpersonal Vision

For me, creativity has always been a key part of supervision. Whether it’s;

- artmaking,

- movement,

- role play,

- sandplay or

- voice-dialogue,

creative methods allow us to tap into deeper insights and explore parts of ourselves that words alone can’t reach. Through this, we expand our Transpersonal vision, staying connected to our passion for helping others while nourishing ourselves in the process.

In creative supervision, we go beyond the everyday, intellectual view, to look at things from a wider, soul perspective. In this way super-vision can feel meaningful, fun and engaging!

Creative Group Supervision: Good for You and Good for Business

Receiving good, creative supervision has deepened my professional growth and helped my business thrive. The clarity and insight that comes from sharing with others through this Transpersonal, multi-dimensional approach has led to better decision-making and innovative ways to support clients. Research from the Journal of Counseling & Development (2019) shows that,

'therapists who engage in group supervision see higher client retention and satisfaction,'

which has absolutely been true for me.

Super-vision allows us to see beyond the surface, offers us a range of perspectives creating significant insight helping us to thrive.
